Land Drainage in Auckland

Poor land drainage causes more property damage over time than most homeowners realise — waterlogged lawns, unstable ground, damp foundations, and erosion can all be traced back to water that simply isn't moving through the property the way it should. Our land drainage service addresses these issues at the source, installing drainage systems designed around your property's specific soil type, slope, and water flow patterns. Auckland's clay-heavy soils are particularly prone to holding water, which makes proper drainage design more important here than in areas with naturally free-draining ground. We assess how water moves across your section during heavy rain, identify problem areas, and install drainage solutions that redirect water away from structures, gardens, and low-lying areas. Whether it's a persistent wet patch in your yard or a broader drainage strategy for a larger property, we get water moving where it should.

What We Deliver

Land Drainage, Designed Around Your Property

01

Our Land Drainage Installation Process

Fixing drainage properly means understanding where the water is coming from first. Guessing and digging a trench in the wet spot usually just moves the puddle. Here's how we approach it.

Site assessment — we look at your levels, soil, and the low points where water collects, ideally after a decent downpour.

Source tracing — we work out whether the water is surface runoff, roof and paving discharge, or groundwater coming up from below.

System design — we lay out a drainage plan with the right mix of surface channels, subsoil lines and collection points for your site.

Trenching — trenches are dug to a consistent fall so water keeps moving instead of pooling in a low spot mid-run.

Pipe, aggregate and fabric — perforated pipe is bedded in drainage metal and wrapped in filter fabric to keep silt out.

Discharge and reinstatement — we connect to a legal discharge point, then backfill, level and reinstate the surface.

Why Choose Our Land Drainage Team in Auckland

We diagnose before we dig. Half the drainage jobs we're called to have already had someone put a trench in the wrong place. Working out whether you've got surface water, roof runoff or genuine groundwater changes the entire solution.

Auckland's clay is the common thread in most of these problems. Water sits on top of it, moves sideways rather than down, and turns lawns into bogs for months. We design around that instead of pretending your section drains like sand.

Fall is everything, and we get it right. A drainage line that runs uphill for even a short stretch is a drainage line that doesn't work, so we set levels properly rather than eyeballing the trench.

What Makes Our Auckland Drainage Contractors Unique?

We tell you where the water is going to go before we start. Every drainage system has to discharge somewhere legal and sensible, and if that route isn't sorted at the design stage you can end up with a system that's technically installed and practically useless.

We look at the whole property, not just the wet patch you called us about. Often the puddle in the lawn is caused by a downpipe discharging onto the ground twenty metres away, and fixing that is cheaper than draining the lawn.

We also reinstate properly. Drainage work tears up ground, so we backfill in layers, compact as we go, and leave your lawn or garden in a state you can actually use rather than a line of soft, sinking trench across the middle of it.
